DA: Ten arrested in drug crackdown at Maverick Landing in East Boston

Ten people were arrested in drug raids on Tuesday that centered on 44 Border St. in the Maverick Landing development in East Boston, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.

Along with the arrest, police seized more than 100 grams of cocaine and 60 grams of fentanyl, in the culmination of an investigation that began six months ago, the DA's office says.

Investigators focused on 44 Border in particular, because it had seen 52 "documented drug-related police interactions" between January, 2023 and last month, the DA's office says. Police had warrants listing three apartments and four residents in the building.

Drug-unit officers from the local A-7 district were joined in the raids by counterparts from D-4 in the South End and E-5 in West Roxbury.

Arrested:

    Samuel Junta, 43, charged with trafficking Class B substance over 70 grams
  • Kerry Bell, 47, charged with trafficking Class B substance over 70 grams
  • Youssef Benelmir, 50, outstanding warrants
  • Reinaldo Diaz, 45, charged with possession Class A with intent to distribute and being a fugitive from justice
  • Edwin Pagan, 47, charged with possession Class A with intent to distribute
  • Christina Dionizio, 30, outstanding warrant
  • Victoria Herrera, 30, charged with trespassing
  • Amin Roundil, 30, trespassing
  • Youssef Benarba, 30, outstanding warrants
  • Edwin Ceballo-Hernandez, 36,trafficking Class A substance and Class B substance

Some were arraigned and had bail set this week; others will be arraigned later dates. Reinaldo Diaz, who is facing a fugitive from justice charge for a pending case in Rhode Island, was ordered held without bail, the DA's office says.
