A federal judge yesterday sentenced Kenny Romero to 7 1/4 years - 87 months - in federal prison for violating the RICO law and for selling cocaine and being a felon in possession of firearms and ammunition - 63 months for the charges to which he'd pleaded guilty and another 24 months for doing all that while on probation for an earlier gun-possession charge. Boston Police responded to Circuit Street between Washington and Regent streets on a report of several shots fired shortly before 10 p.m. Officers found at least one shell casing near the park there.
Two people were shot, both in the leg, inside 87 Fuller St., off Washington Street, in Dorchester, around 9:25 p.m. Because of the severity of at least one victim's injuries, the homicide unit was called in.

Boston Police report two officers patrolling in their cruiser near Warren Gardens heard "several loud bangs," then spotted a man on Dabney Street holding an item in the air with smoke coming from the end, shortly after midnight on Saturday. Read more.
Police officers responding to 911 calls about gunfire and shouting found a man shot in the leg at 226 North St. in the North End around 2:55 a.m. Injuries were not considered life threatening.

A man was ordered held in lieu of $2 million bail today on charges he joined with another man in a bullet barrage that sent five people, two children, 14 and 11, on Ames Street to the hospital last September, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports. Read more.
A man busy barging his way through a crowd at Scorpion Bar on Seaport Boulevard in the Seaport one December night pulled a gun from his waistband, pointed it at a man who objected to getting shoved and warned him "I could kill you right now if I wanted to," police and bar managers told the Boston Licensing Board today. Two letter carriers were held up in Dorchester this morning, one on Mora Street around 11:15 a.m., and the second about ten minutes later and a couple blocks away on Fuller Street.
In the Mora case, the suspect appeared to have a gun. In the other case, the robber tried to grab the mailman's master mailbox key, but failed to get it. In both cases, the robber got away in a white sedan.
A man was arrested yesterday afternoon as he was trying to rob the Burger King, 128 Tremont St. downtown, Boston Police report. Read more.
Boston Police report officers who initially stopped a driver for speeding in the area of Washington and Erie streets Friday night wound up arresting him for the gun with the "extended magzine" and the 22 bullets loaded into it they found in his car. Read more.
