A federal judge this week sentenced William Robertson, a now former State Police sergeant, to three years in federal prison for his conviction on charges he not only took part in overtime abuse at State Police headquarters in Framingham, he helped in a failed effort to hide evidence from federal investigators. State Police report a trooper on a construction detail on Rte. 128 southbound in Weston was seriously injured around 11:30 p.m. on Tuesday when the driver of an 18-wheeler slammed into the back of the cruiser, destroying it and forcing his truck to jackknife across the highway.
The trooper, who was able to radio for help, was taken to a Boston hospital with serious injuries, State Police say.

WBZ reports that SPAM, which represents state troopers, says "dozens" are self-defunding and quitting rather than get a Covid-19 shot. Last week, a judge upheld a state requirement that troopers and other state employees be vaccinated by Oct. 17.
