The fleecing of the brides, part II: Woman indicted for alleged role in fake Hynes bridal show

The US Attorney's office today announced the arrest of a woman who helped set up a fake business to suck money out of local brides-to-be and bridal businesses for an alleged show at the Hynes that never took place.

Karen Tucker, 47, faces up to 22 years in federal prison for the alleged fraud, which the government says was actually part of a national effort to defraud people in numerous cities besides Boston. Tucker was formally charged with one count of wire fraud and one count of aggravated identity theft. The US Attorney's office says Tucker had a co-conspirator, but he or she was not named.

The feds charge Tucker and her partner managed to scam local businesses out of several thousand dollars before Boston Police and the FBI issued urgent warning just days before their alleged bridal show at the Hynes was due to take place (you can read details of the alleged show on the bogus Twitter feed, still live.
