The Boston Fire Department reports the cause of the fire, which started on the second floor of the three-story, wood-frame rooming house, is still under investigation, but that it did roughly $500,000 in damage and sent two residents to the hospital for smoke inhalation and five firefighters to the hospital with burns, heat exhaustion and cuts.
Several cats were rescued, but one died.
