Of course, that's for the unpainted kit version. Busy jihadists will probably want to splurge on the $500 factory paint job, which is apparently what Rezwan Ferdaus of Ashland allegedly did, according to an FBI affidavit, which includes a photo of a model F-86 Sabre jet:
The FBI affidavit describes how undercover agents gave Ferdaus money to buy equipment with which he thought he could "decapitate" the U.S. military:
Between May 2011 and September 2011, FERDAUS researched, ordered and acquired (with the financial assistance of the [undercover agents]) necessary components for his attack plans, including one remote controlled aircraft (F-86 Sabre), 25 pounds of C-4 explosives, 6 fully-automatic AK-47 assault rifles (machine guns) and grenates. FERDAUS created a false identity, "Dave Winfield." He opened a PayPal account under this false identity and even created a cover story explaining why he was seeking to buy this planes. FERDAUS told representatives of a Florida distributor that he was purchasing the plane for his son (FERDAUS is unmarried and has no children). In June 2011, FERDAUS also rented a storage facility in Framingham, Massachusetts, under a different false name, to use to build his attack planes and maintain all his equipment.
The affidavit claims Ferdaus planned to activate the explosives through another remote-controlled device: A cellphone with some wires leading to the explosives that, when called, would send a charge through the wires and detonate the planes.
Some people put cameras in the cockpit:
