Teen was hit by car before being shot by police; to be arraigned in hospital bed
James Sanders, 18, of Roxbury, is scheduled for arraignment this afternoon in his Boston Medical Center bed on a variety of charges, the Suffolk County District Attorney's office reports.
According to prosecutors, Boston Police officers spotted Sanders involved in a drug transaction around 7:30 p.m. at 18 Trotter Ct. When police approached:
Sanders allegedly ran, was struck by a motor vehicle on Washington Street, and continued to flee until the officer caught up with him near Newcomb Street. There, Sanders allegedly engaged the officer in a violent physical altercation and the officer's gun discharged, causing an injury that was not deemed life-threatening.
Sanders faces charges of assault and battery on a public employee, resisting arrest and possession of a Class B substance with intent to distribute.
This is not the first time police have investigated drug activity at that address. In 2009, a man was shot to death there as part of a turf war among drug dealers. Garrett "G-Whiz" Jackson was convicted of that murder just last month.
Innocent, etc.
