...the jersey barriers I almost smashed into at the u-turn on Rutherford Ave. northbound that mysteriously appeared overnight, or is there some other bullshit reason why I need to go through Sullivan to get to work on the southbound side of Rutherford now?

Nope, those have been there since Thursday afternoon.
Wonder if it has to do with that metal bar that is very loose and makes quiet the racket when going over it? And I think that there should be some type of warning for people that are used to turning there.

Expansion joints, plates, manhole covers etc. Even worse when wet. Road paint slippery too. Riders should know this.

I was referring to warning drivers ahead of time, that the area to make a u-turn, was going to have jersey barriers blocking them doing so all of a sudden.

I still don't know why it was closed over the summer and early fall, but it's open again today. I biked through it this afternoon on the way to an event at Bunker Hill Community College.

Wonder if there is just something about the area that makes it more prone to deadly accidents.

It's a horribly designed intersection for all users, most especially the most vulnerable, that's what.

I saw photos of the motorcycle. It looked to have "ape hanger" handle bars which are dangerous both on motorcycles and bicycles. Illegal even, when above shoulder level, making control difficult. Sport bikes are far, far easier to control than cruiser style bikes like this Harley, which also looked to be illegally modified with open exhausts. Fashion victim.

Sounds like you have a grudge against Harley's.. while thats fine, this is bad place to vent about that. I'd point that rage towards the city/state for making that intersection safer, not for the kind of motorcycle the victim was riding.
