All clear as of 2:10 pm. Still odd though, close the station but keep trains running through AND allow buses to access it.

It was a small fire in the escalator/elevator storage room on platform level.

Glad it didn't [wait for it] escalate.

At least BFD didn't require the power to be shut down.

I wonder if the union is staging a work slowdown in response to the fiscal control board and loss of potential Olympics money...

"Delays of half an hour or more have been reported at certain times of day "

"It was the second time in two months that the ''T'' has been hit by fires of suspicious origin."

I don't want to rain on anyone's parade, because I do love a good conspiracy theory, but I doubt we need to look to malfeasance when we can just look at Sullivan's dilapidated state (and the heat). It's a wonder none of those rusted parts of the platform ceiling and floor have fallen into the tracks or onto a person.

the rubber cable under the elevator caught on fire...

why wouldn't they bus folks from assembly?

Assembly Does not have a formal bus ramp. No buses formally serve that station- yet at least. The exit empties onto a very narrow street and a parking lot and the area is under substantial construction as new buildings go up next to the station.

Both Sullivan and Wellington have formal bus ramps that make it easier to board people.

Well, that was a good design decision for a brand new station!

it was on purpose. Assembly Square station really is a neighborhood station. The only bus that could remotely serve is the 90 or the 92. Both of which end at the mall side of that complex and no where near the train station.

And honestly, I can't see the 90 or 92 even continuing after the next service adjustment due to the fact that the station exists now and both bus routes serve other adjacent orange line stops (90 = Wellington & Sullivan. 92 = Haymarket, Sullivan, DTX, State)

the 92 in particular is just duplicate service. It services five stops after it leaves Sullivan toward Assembly. Only one stop is not on the Assembly Square property, the other two are on or right beside the property.
