Tip for dog owners: Leave your dog in a locked car on a day like today in Boston, don't be surprised if your dog isn't there when you get back

Police officers found two dogs in two broiling cars on Boylston Street this afternoon. Just as they were calling in the Fire Department to open up the cars, one of the owners arrived. The other one, however, did not:

who showed up in time to avoid having their windows smashed? Or at least confiscate the dog that the owner has clearly demonstrated to one and all that they can't properly care for (or give a rats - - - about their welfare).

What were people saying in the Arboretum topic about some dog owners being entitled jerks - look no further.

Should have charged them for the FDs time. Of course it was an SUV driver. Its no shock to me when people who don't care about their own dog or the environment hit pedestrians and drive away.

This is why animals need to stop being seen as property and as actual living, breathing beings which they are.

Pet stores, puppy mills need to be SHUT down. People need to go to jail for animal abuse. We need a national register for animal abusers and HUGE fines for idiots like the ones in this story.

Humans suck.

It has to do with stupid people who own pets and have no training or idea on taking care of them.

You probably stepped over a couple homeless guys rushing to your keyboard to type this out.

I disagree with the notion of shutting down pet stores per se, because there are plenty of reputable pet stores where the owners/staff are extremely knowledgeable and helpful, and who maintain a clean, odorless pet store facility.

Pets are living, breathing beings, and leaving them in a hot car, or a car any time...period...is beyond irresponsible...it's totally unconscionable..and reprehensible.

shouldn't be allowed to have dogs or kids. Clearly they don't know how to raise or treat them and do not deserve them. Good on the Boston Fire Department.

Extra glad that a tragic end was averted.
