Technically, if it was really down by West 4th it's the Bass River, not the Fort Point Channel.
And does anybody call it that?

Would people know what it meant if I called it that?
Even the firefighters and police who responded were calling it "Fort Point Channel" on the radio (and truth be told, they kept calling it the "Broadway Bridge," not the "James Kelly Bridge").
There are two bridges there

There is the West Fourth Street bridge and theres the James Kelly Bridge. Which bridge was it at. There is no such thing as the old Broadway Bridge. That's been gone for a long time.
It was in the water between the two bridges

The firefighters launched their boat from a little landing by West 4.
And yes, I know it's no longer officially the Broadway bridge. But old habits die hard and many people still refer to it that way.
Who cares?

They managed to successfully communicate the location, regardless of whatever point it is that you are trying to make.
Meanwhile, a person was found dead. Said person probably does not care what you think, what Adam thinks, what the BFD thinks, what I think, or what anybody thinks the bridges and waterways are called.
Because they are dead.
Not surprising

That area is a refuge for junkies. Especially since tueyve started cleaning up under the freeway. Keep developing until theyve all been pushed intonthe harbor
