Hyde Park teen convicted of shooting man to death in the South End

A Suffolk Superior Court jury today convicted Raymond Concepcion of the shooting murder of Nicholas Martinez as he sat in a car stuck in traffic on Southampton Street in 2012.

Concepcion, just 15 at the time of the murder, was the gunman who got out of another car and fired the fatal shots, prosecutors charged.

Because of his age, Judge Jeffrey Locke sentenced him to life in prison with the possibility of parole after a minimum of 20 years for murder, as well as a concurrent term of four to five years for unlawful possession of a firearm.

Two other Hyde Park residents also faced charges for the Oct. 17, 2012 incident. Those men ,Jaquan Hill, 24, and Shakeem Johnson, 25, pleaded guilty to manslaughter last month, earning them sentences of 12 to 14 years in state prison.
