“The arc of the moral universe is long, but it bends toward justice”
It's a good day to be Irish and to be Bostonian. I'm proud that I've never marched in this parade unlike many so called progressives. Mayor Menino was right on this issue to his credit.
Now let's move on to better things like Universal Health Care!
Cant wait for the enlightening OpEd from that toilet paper rag, South Boston Today.
Regardless the transformation is nearly complete.
The marble mouths have almost completely been driven off and what few remain are inching further south into the "sober" houses and drug dens of Andrew Square.
Gentrification is a sad process, but it is even sadder when the gentrifiers call the locals names and celebrate wins & losses of territory.
The St.Patricks Day / Evacuation Day parade controversies have been divisive for years, but maybe now is a time for both sides to turn toward greater kindness and understanding.
That is priceless. I would think that you had made this up to amuse all of us, but it is impossible for someone to have made that up. Impossible. Notwithstanding how upset "Butchie" apparently is about this new turn of events, I am quite pleased. Out with the old, in with the new.
Our constitution gives us a right to free speech and the Supreme Court upheld this right. I have nothing against these people I just feel if they want to live a life of Sin they should do it for themselves. I am not against them though but I think our parade should not be used as an instrument of the plutocracy that wants this bizzare society where we are all meant to be living in condos and biking places and buying fancy coffees for $6 every morning.
This is only going to bring back sponsors and good PR. Never understood the issue with any inclusive group saying "this is who we are, and we are here to honor our veterans". Be it the old guard, outvets, or the 501st legion.
Every other group was able to do so, be it commercial bussiness, marching band, or private club.

Not everyone is happy apparently
But good on them for the change, and pushing the biggoted jackasses out. Maybe now the focus can go back onto the Veterans and history of the day.
Well.
That's a well-written and well-reasoned response. Not unhinged at all, no siree.
Oh my lord!

21st century Boston
We're a little late but better late than never. I always thought the space savers would be gone before we saw this happen!
I dont care who runs it
As long as they're a vet. It is rather strange he's not from the area but whatever.
Would love to hear his plans, will he kick out the storm-troopers?
If anything

Agreed
I could care less that he prefers men over women. His resume speaks VOLUMES and he is incredibly qualified, if not over qualified.
A vet is a vet, and let’s hope that’s his focus.
