The Globe reports that before storming the building, police first set off a couple of explosions to, well, make a lot of noise to distract the alleged hostage-taking thug.

Boston Police have released more info on the incident:

The victim reported that when her friend opened the door, the suspect pushed his way through the door and attacked the victim. The suspect assaulted her by punching her about the face and head area. The victim further reported to officers that as the suspect assaulted her by holding her in a headlock she observed him trying to load ammunition into a firearm. The victim then frantically fought off the suspect, and was able to escape to a nearby friend's house where she called the police.

Based on the information received and the possibility that the armed suspect was still in the house, officers requested the SWAT team and hostage negotiators to the location of the incident to prevent any further escalation of the incident.

Ramon Rosarion, 50, of Roxbury is sought.
