Man attacked, robbed of jacket and boots; police arrest two of four suspects

Boston Police report arresting two men they say were part of a pack of four who attacked a man walking through a Roxbury housing project early Wednesday, leaving him outside in the snow shoeless and without a jacket.

Police say they found the victim shortly before 3 a.m. after the attack outside 9 Ditmus Ct.. In addition to his clothes, his attackers also took a backpack and $500 in cash.

Police say officers quickly spotted a man who matched one of the victim's descriptions walking towards Lenox Street. One down. The investigation led to a nearby apartment, at which they knocked and were let in by one of its occupants:

Once in the apartment, officers observed approximately eleven individuals inside. Officers informed the individuals they were looking for three males involved in a robbery that occurred in that apartment. As a result of the officer’s inquiry, a second suspect was positively identified.

Herbert Smith, 46, and Wellington Ruiz, 24, were both charged with armed robbery.

Police say officers recovered the victim's boots in the apartment and found his backpack on Shawmut Avenue.

Innocent, etc.

It would be sweet to see them charged with attempted murder. Leaving somebody without adequate clothing in this weather - and especially shoeless - could be considered a try at offing them.

Yeah, I know it probably wouldn't stick, but it would still be sweet.

their location i.e. a rural area, remote location of the city why wouldn't it be considered attempted murder.

A little over 1/2 mile to Boston Police Headquarters. I'm not certain I'd call that area rural or the least bit remote.
