Somebody fires several shots at Dot. Ave. and Gallivan Boulevard; nearby firefighters not hit

The Dorchester Reporter reports that somebody fired a gun repeatedly at the intersection of Dorchester Avenue and Gallivan Boulevard around 12:15 p.m.

It was unclear later in the afternoon who or what the intended target of the gunfire was, but a Boston Fire truck was in “the direct vicinity,” the Fire Department said, although no members were injured.

All the local TV channels had helicopters in the area this afternoon.

The helicopters were most likely an annoyance.

I think the bigger issue is that someone has the balls to stand in a major intersection of the city in the middle of the day and start shooting at someone else.

It appears people have been lulled into what they used to call in Northern Ireland "an acceptable level of violence". It appears that is what was going on in front of the Boston Home yesterday.

I find that, um, fairly nuts.

I hope the nice police officers of this area figure out who is this exuberant 20 something with the firearm.

I hope this person also gets prosecuted by the vindicated DA of the area and not have his charges downgraded because full charges might hurt his chances of getting into MIT or CalTech.
