Two letter carriers held up in Dorchester

Two letter carriers were held up in Dorchester this morning, one on Mora Street around 11:15 a.m., and the second about ten minutes later and a couple blocks away on Fuller Street.

In the Mora case, the suspect appeared to have a gun. In the other case, the robber tried to grab the mailman's master mailbox key, but failed to get it. In both cases, the robber got away in a white sedan.

Society is being ruined by a small group of bad apples:(

Add cameras to mail trucks and charge these A-holes with crimes, fine them $5,000 each offense and sentence them to a year of communuty service - isn't this a federal crime?

Assault a random person and BPD will make a halfhearted effort to find you and if they do the DA may let you plead out to a slap on the wrist.

Assault a postal worker and the USCIS will investigate and if they find you it's a federal felony and the local DA isn't anywhere nearby. 10 years in the federal slammer for a first offense, 25 for a second. If this perp is caught … well, I see two offenses.

USPS but yes agreed otherwise.

McGruff is gonna tune you up!

… for census enumerators.

But, the violent crime rate in Boston is dropping like a stone.

"Dropping" does not mean "none."

It's unfortunate, but true, we're seeing less crime, but that does not (yet) mean no crime.

Next time, maybe count to ten before trying to whip off what you think is a zinger.

… white collar crime is on the rise.

and therefore you are wrong.

I won’t hold my breath waiting….

You already have it.

As a kid growing up in Bronx, then Boston (city), MANY crimes went UNREPORTED. Reasons: Victims ( city people in "lower class" neighborhoods didn't bother because they knew police wouldn't do anything about, and often too 1/2 or longer to show up at all. And today post-gentrificaton, crimes, even violent crimes, are often downgraded or not show up on official statistics because, partially to make things look better than they really are. Fudging statistics is an easy and time honored tradition. Believe the "experts" (who lie all the time) or you're own lying eyes.

It is true for big city and urban are (including surrounding inner metro cities that would have been amalgamated into one million + population city in other parts of the country) is much safer than Philly, Baltimore, DC, etc

The USPS needs to upgrade the mailbox locks so that those keys are all digital and can be made useless by inactivating them remotely.
