Death outside a party
By adamg on Sun, 11/18/2007 - 12:51pm
The Urban Paramedic posts a graphic account by a Boston EMT of a man found badly beaten and stomped outside a party early yesterday morning (he doesn't specify if it was the Glenville Road incident with Shawn Dow; I've e-mailed him to ask). He goes on to cite a guy with a bloody nose who kept getting in the face of the EMTs, showed up at the hospital, got kicked out, then wound up back at the scene, where police took him away as a possible suspect after learning the man the EMTs had worked on had died.

careful what you ask for...
he probably can't comment as to whether or not it was that specific party ... it could cost him his job. I've known several doctors/nurses/hospital folk who have suspended their blogs because of fear of job loss if they cross that HIPPA line.
i know a nurse who worked diligently to keep her blog as anonymous as possible, changing genders and ages of patients and deliberately leaving out key info... she got nabbed by her hospital because she posted from her laptop through their wifi signal and it was flagged by their IT (stupid move on her part) and she was monitored for months before the hospital administration approached her and asked her to stop blogging. she's gone now, or posting at another blog that i can't find... and i miss her. because it wasn't always medical stuff.
Urban Paramedic is one of my favorite blogs, and I'd hate to see him shut down too, by his own decision or someone else's ... so let's not ask for details of the where and who.
HIPAA
And, indeed, he posts on his site that he can't reveal where the incident was. But, honestly, how many other incidents were there in Boston like this on Saturday night?
I noticed that after
I noticed that after scrolling down to the comments, after reading the whole entry.
it sounds like an episode of Homicide Life on the Street. Without detectives pembleton and bayliss on the scene grabbing bloody nose kid.
Gone Baby Gone
Urban Paramedics blog entry is gone.Big Brother is watching.
Shawn Dow
I went to high school with Shawn and was best friends with his brother.
When I read the blog that's linked from this post, I just prayed it isn't Shawn he's talking about.
Dear god, his death is tragic and the conflicting reports just break our hearts even more.
