Dutch cargo bikes to hit Hub

Who knew there were freight bikes? Larsks reports the Dutch Bike Company has rented space at 50 Tufts St. in Somerville and hopes to open for business by February, selling what look like pedalable wheelbarrows.

They just opened up at the corner of Sacramento and Oxford streets - it's called the New Amsterdam Project.

These bikes do look very cool but I don't know how well they're going to sell here - Boston still isn't a very bike friendly place. I should know, I was a bike courier here off an on for several years.

I'm also wondering how popular they'll be with prices starting at $1000 - and starting at $2700 for the cargo bikes.

I guess it's cheaper than a hybrid.
