I'd just like to speak in defense of Somerville - their sidewalks are generally far better cared for than Cambridge's. The image posted is taken in front of a Lesley building - I think that's the real reason the sidewalk is well cleared. Somerville seems to own and operate sidewalk plows - I’ve found sidewalks much better maintained in the Davis Square area than I ever did in Central or the Cambridge side of Inman.

Today I found Somerville had cleared sidewalks reasonably well - still messy around driveways and corners, but certainly navigable by foot. Medford, however, failed to even attempt to shovel. That, at least, was my experience out by Tufts.
