Thundersnow!

1:35pm, sitting here on the PC reading my blogs for the afternoon and WHAM! huge flash of lightning followed immediately by the thunder. They weren't kidding this morning when they said we'd get some.

It is snowing like mad right now... but in the last 5 or so minutes haven't heard another rumble or seen another flash.

anyone else getting a dose of the thundersnow?

Mother Nature is feeling a bit conflicted right now

Yep, we got thunder down here in Roslindale. Lots of wind, too, along with what looks like a mix of rain and snow. All that's missing are the hailstones the size of baseballs ...

Much lighter now

Phew, so we can take cooped-up kid over to Ron's in Hyde Park for some bowling/ice-cream eating.

Thunder and Lightening oh my

That was wild. Fun while it lasted, though, since I was inside and don't have any reason to be outside unless I want to be.

It got so dark, too!

It whipped up between the time I parked my car and walked (ran) into Russo's in Watertown... and the sun was out before I'd finished shopping. Very strange.

Now Sunshine!

I'm in the South End right now, and these squalls are borderline apocalyptic.

It's back

By Ron Newman | Sun, 02/10/2008 - 5:13pm

We're getting a second round of it right now, as I type this, near Davis Square.

Hyde Park, too

By adamg | Sun, 02/10/2008 - 5:44pm

Made me glad we were nice and toasty inside Ron's ice cream and bowling alley. Horizontal snow!

A third squall here in Davis Square

By Ron Newman | Sun, 02/10/2008 - 7:26pm

No thunder this time, but plenty of nearly horizontal snow right now.

Wowsers!

I was sitting in the bar at 647 and all hell broke loose a couple of times... Rain to snowsquall to sun to thundersnow (at around 4 PM) to sun then darkness (as the sun set)... Now it's snowing.

Wow! Snow sun snow sun squall squall squall. Did anybody see the Snowbow? We had one in Medford, off to the East. It also generated some hemispherical prismatic light effects that had us all grooving around 5pm.

I almost regret letting my birthday boy pick a restaurant 1/2 hour away given the driving conditions. Major squall in the Belmont area around 7pm that made the roads treacherous. Route 2 was down to 20mph or less.

Not to mention my family isn't happy with my humming every time the car skidded a little or that howling wind bit into our faces ... It's 65 in SFO and I'll be there by noon PDT tomorrow for much of the week. Bike friday will travel too!
