Poets across the river

The designated chief poets of Boston and Cambridge will slam into each other at a joint reading on April 22 in the Central Square library.

Of course, this being Boston and Cambridge, it's important to note that Boston's poet was appointed by the city, while Cambridge's was elected (hmm, did it take several days to tally the results?).

Somerville Poet Laureate

By Doug Holder (not verified) | Thu, 04/03/2008 - 11:10am

I proposed a Somerville poet laureate to alderman Robert Trane in Somerville, Mass. He brought it up to the city council, and they seemed to think it is a good idea. That was a month and a half ago. Since then Robert Trane contacted to me to see if The Somerville Arts Council has contacted me. Still no word as of yet. I know people are looking for funding. But I hope Somerville gets one too!

A poetry death match would be great. It would leave one laureate standing, and get rid of the rest of the dead wood. A little poetry goes a long way.
