Turkeys in Roxbury

Third Decade reports spotting one on West Cottage Street between Dudley Street and Blue Hill Avenue today:
... I'm wondering, though, whether these birds are protected. Why can't residents go out and catch these birds? I mean, is it really all that different in theory from harvesting free-range chickens?

Ah, "Wild" Turkeys Again!
They may just be feral birds:
And regardless of what type they are, you need a permit to hunt them although there is a Spring hunting season for males. Hurry! Act now!
Now I'm Scared
They have infiltrated the legislature. Although I assume this has something to do with the fact that the wild turkey is our state bird, this law may end up having unintended consequences - namely, enslavement of the entire human race by wild turkeys:
Chapter 131: Section 75. Wild turkey
Section 75. Except as provided in section five, a person shall not hunt or have in his possession a wild turkey or take, molest, disturb, destroy or have in possession the nest or eggs of a wild turkey.
Section five has some vague statements about lawfully taking wildlife on your own land, but the turkey-appointed judges will likely interpret that against us.
Avenge me!!!
