Rat race to BOS, and to points north
GPS receivers with autorouting are great, but for getting to Logan airport, or for fine-tuning the morning daily commute, they're not up to the job.
Anybody got any opinions on what's the best route to get from Roslindale to Logan airport? Maps.google puts one up Washington to Dearborn to Albany to I-90. I can't help but wonder if it wouldn't be better to backtrack to Brighton or even Newton, and there haul in on the I-90.
Getting from Roslindale to Route 128 north, I've found that VFW to Baker St to Nahanton to 4th to Highland is fastest. Opinions appreciated. Route 9 _seems_ slower.

Follow the cabbies
Fastest route: Get down to American Legion Highway. Take that to Blue Hill Avenue, then turn right onto Columbia Road, which'll get you to 93 and the Ted Williams Tunnel.
At least, that's how I've gotten to the airport the last couple of times I took a cab there (one thing that, as a non-native, always amazes me, is how small Boston really is - Dorchester really is not all that far from Roslindale; it just seems that way).
As for 128, I think you've nailed it. I used to have a co-worker in West Roxbury who'd take that basic path. Me, I just go all the way up the VFW Parkway, but I'm a creature of habit, and most of the time, it's fairly speedy (except for those times when, for some inexplicable reason, there's a jam up at Putterham).
