Mystery trucks on Beacon Hill

Steve S. wonders what could possibly have been in the two Budget trucks that required a phalanx of Boston Police motorcycle cops to escort them as they turned onto Beacon from Charles a little after 11:30 last night.

Ed. Capt. Obvious note: Maybe they were just making sure they didn't get on Storrow Drive. Thank you, I'll be here all week.

Just a guess? Either that, or support stuff for Dick who apparent is going to grace us with his presence. "Phalanx" doesn't even begin to describe the crap the VP and Big Idiot have, and a fair amount of it arrives before they do.

Wild speculation

Maybe some of the fireworks for the 4th? That much explosive material in one place probably warrants some police presence.

that was my initial guess, but all the esplanade fireworks are set up, aren't they? plus, the trucks were heading up the hill, opposite direction of the fireworks barge.

At about 8 am this morning, two swiftly moving Silver Fox tour busses filled with passengers had a police escort on several motorcycles down from Beacon Hill and onto Cambridge Street. At first I thought it might have been Darth -- oops -- I mean, the VP, but there were no Imperial Guards in the motorcade.

could have been...

... a jury field trip...
the court's right there and many mornings around that time, the buses head out full of jurors, journalists, etc - on the way to see the crime scenes.

Saw the buses parked beside Symphony Hall this morning. I guessed it was for the Pops. Do they have a dress rehearsal tonight at the shell?

Pops today

The Pops have a concert tonight at the Hatch Shell. You could call it a "dress rehearsal", but it's fully open to the public. I believe that they had a real rehearsal at the Hatch Shell earlier today, with the area entirely closed to the public.

oooo, instruments!

THAT's probably what they were- all the instruments and gear getting moved over from Symphony Hall!
