Pastry-faced bicyclists

Mike Ball reports on this morning's police-escorted bicycle convoys toward City Hall Plaza - where participants were rewarded with free coffee and pastry. Feeling left out? There's another one on Aug. 22.

Classy
Unfortunately, I can’t say what it was like to roll with the black bikes with lights and sirens. I was at Forest Hills by 7:12. The scheduled convoy time there was 7:20. A nice cyclist, Marco, arrived by 7:20 and we waited until 7:35, figuring between cyclists and cops, they were sure to be late. In fact, they must have been early. I tore down to Roslindale Square, where the officer in the blue and white said that was the first he had heard of the event and no bikes had come by him.
$20 says they never came at all.
Cops o' the wisp
I saw Marco again on the plaza. He didn't follow me to Rozzie and went ahead. However, when he arrived at City Hall, the WR/Rozzie/JP contingent had arrived long before. That suggests they didn't go to or by the announced Forest Hills stop. Next time I go, I'll appear at one of the starting points, dagnabbit!
I likely have over-romanticized the police escort angle, but I won't know until I participate.
yeah, but wtf?
Okay, but what was the point of them publishing those maps with times, if they weren't going to stick to them even remotely? You said you got there way beforehand! Let's hope the next attempt is better organized.
I want a pastry....
....for navigating my car to work every day in the endless swatch of construction projects in Boston and Cambridge!
You could consider it carbon reclaimation
The plants used to make it absorbed some of that carbon dioxide from the air that your car emitted. ;-)
Except you'll have to use the money you would have used for the pastry at the pump.
They're just trying to tire
They're just trying to tire everyone out before Critical Mass tonight!
