What's that line about statistics again?

Two headlines from today:

Boston Business Journal: Mass. unemployment rises, defying trend.
Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce: State Adds 2,900 Jobs in June.

Both could be correct

You can have rising unemployment despite job creation if the number of people who are actively seeking employment has increased more than the number of jobs available.

Lots of people graduated high school and college last month - I'd bet there are more than 3,000 of them looking for jobs.

Which stat you report is all spin.
