Seems like a bunch of people have been hit by trains around here lately.

Not to get bogged down with

Not to get bogged down with semantics, but shouldn't the header of this thread refer to it as a "suicide attempt" as opposed to a "suicide?" It appeared to me that the guy survived.

Just sayin' is all...

Pining for the fjords

The headline on the linked story is:

Man killed on Westborough commuter tracks

Seems like a fairly successful attempt there (it was the other guy, the other day in Framingham, who survived).

Oops

My mistake. I must have missed that part. Sorry.

Okay...

I re-read the article, and realized that I had initially read it so quickly, the info that had struck me at the end about the guy who survived a previous incident made me lose the info on the first guy and notice that it was a different person.

In any case, my heart goes out to the friends and family of both.

More than one victim

While I feel bad for this person's family, at least there was intention.

The train drivers suffer horribly from these suicide incidents as they become powerless agents of death, unable to stop or swerve the train and prevent tragedy.

Keep them in your thoughts/prayers as well.

For Instance

Really touching article by a London Tube driver put in that situation.

I believe in our discussion

I believe in our discussion of the prior incident SwirlyGrrl mentioned that some believe that by making a big fuss out of suicide attempts by things like trains that it can lead to copy cats... Could this be a copy cat copying that prior incident?
