A real blue streak; Patrick makes history
Well, that didn't take long: TV stations declare Patrick victory at 8:01.
Blue Mass. Group at the Patrick party at the Hynes: The mood in the Hynes Convention Center can only be described in one word: jubilation.
Teddy: Keep Howie Carr away from the Tobin Bridge.
Healey concedes around 9:30. And when her supporters boo Patrick's name, she says:
... No. No. We should all applaud. I pray God will give him the wisdom to lead Massachusetts into prosperity.
Outraged Liberal: Kerry Healey showed more class and dignity in her concession speech than in the previous seven weeks of the campaign:
... Given the sorry state of the Massachusetts Republican Party, she may have succeeded in scraping a little of the burnt edge off the toast of her political career. ...
Lecollye doesn't care:
... Goodbye to your lies, your culture of hate and your xenophobic fear mongering. We don't want you in charge of anything anymore and a good chunk of us are glad to see you go. ...

CarPundit: Massachusetts Loses - Deval Patrick Wins:
... Nothing good will come of it. Taxes will go up. Spending will go up. Regulation will go up. Business will flee (faster). And there will be no check on the power of the Democratic Party in Massachusetts. ...
Devone already predicts Patrick will turn away from the left:
... Patrick is as proud as he is wise; he wants to go down in history as a governor who always held the best interests of the Commonwealth at heart, not as a narrow-minded ideologue like Dukakis (or a complete failure like Jane Swift). While I did not support his candidacy, I do believe that Patrick, once he assumes the reigns of power, may turn out to be a governor who places pragmatism over progressivism--and if that is indeed the case, you can bet the bank that the bloggers who backed him will begin to bash him. ...
Jonelle is loving it all:
... The only way this evening could get better would be if Christy Mihos announced that he will make television ads for the rest of his natural life. You know who needs Christy Mihos on their publicity team? Bernie and Phyl. I'm envisioning an artful animation of Barry and Eliot, perched on a couch, with their heads up their posterior ends.
Third Decade: I'm looking forward to tomorrow's news and to seeing our state move in a new direction.
Mats Tolander isn't surprised by Patrick's win, but says he is surprised by the enthusiasm for him:
... His professional accomplishments are better suited for an annual family newsletter than a gubernatorial candidacy. ...
Geoff Edgers reports that Patrick's father played saxophone in Sun Ra's Arkestra.
Michael discovers you can't take a video camera into the polling place.

The Globe...
...called it for Deval at 8:09 with 0% of the precincts in.
I was rooting for Deval Patrick
and am so excited he won. But I have to admit, when the TV newspeople declared him the winner at 8 pm, it was sort of anti-climatic. I turned off the TV and went to bed.
