Epidemic of car break-ins across Boston

Boston Police report that eight of the city's twelve police districts have seen increases in car break-ins since Jan. 1 - a 19% increase citywide (so apparently we can't blame everything on those three Chelsea guys picked up in West Roxbury). Police say they are stepping up patrols and the use of decoy vehicles to try to snare thieves, but say in the meantime - never leave anything interesting (like cash on the dashboard or exposed GPS unit) out in the open.
