The 6 House around 7:30 p.m. yesterday. At least there weren't any news trucks near it.
Talonvaki reports:
We went over to the 6 House at around 9:30 for dinner and a few drinks. Except they were closed. Maybe it's just because it was a slow night with the thunderstorm and no baseball game and all. ...

Thank you, Boston Herald, for whipping up a public frenzy that led to this drastic over-reaction. Peter Gelzinis should hang his head in shame.

Nothing like a media shower on the hazards of Southie to spoil your move to a brand new apartment in July!
Anyways, Without passing judgment, It looks like Adam was looking for, and found trouble that night. The irony in it, that his third strike was his last.
Granted his Myspace said he enjoyed fighting, and I'm willing to give him the benefit of the doubt that he meant UFC type fighting, but his actions earlier, and the words from his acquaintances point to him being a tough guy with a little too much juice in his system. I've met the type before, washed up townies who couldn't go to college because they didn't give a shit about High school, and instead spent their time juicing and drinking and causing trouble. They give most good people bad names, pretending that they're the next Biggy or Tu Pac, real tough guy, ya kno?
It's too bad this young man died, but wasn't he really on that path from the get go of the night? I've always lived by the, don't fuck with me, and I won't fuck with you agreement. You don't go around a city neighborhood looking to cause trouble, no matter how inebriated you are. I would never go into Dorchester and scream slurs, and act like a tough guy because its "fun".
I'm also wondering about the guy that they're pinning it on. A "non-drinker" dad wis MS... but what the hell was he doing in the bar at 1am on a sat? Friends party? Knows the bar tender? What's his story besides "I didn't do it". Adams friends seem to be sticking to his story that he was the one who did it, but it should be very telling once we hear the staffs version of the story.
While their judgment to let these tools into the bar in the first place was bad, most people aren't looking for trouble. Suspending their license for this incident is ridiculous, and people need to stop nanny stating businesses in MA.
Unfortunately, though,

often enough, it takes only a minority of people looking for trouble to set the tone and thereby get the ball rolling, if you get the drift.

Not knowing a whole lot about the incident, it seems to me that the best way to at least minimize the chances of such incidents recurring in the future on any premises, would be for the bartender and other patrons to isolate known troublemakers as best as can be done, and to not let them onto the premises again in the first place.
Should he rethink moving to Southie?

News that the city has shut the 6 House gets Robert David Sullivan to thinking:
Jason points his finger at the Herald for its coverage of the Adam Rich murder, in which the bar has been painted as a demonic hellhole haunted by the ghosts of Whitey Bulger's victims:

The 6 House is unfortunately closed indefinitely.
There was an "emergency license removal" and are waiting for a hearing on july 9 or 10. They have NO idea if it will reopen or not.

Name a bar in this city that doesn't have a 'history'. The two guys that own the bar are scapegoats.
I guess now that 6 House is closed, Southie is safe!? These guys ran a decent joint. Neither the victim or the accused assailant are from the neighborhood. The press crucified this place (I'm not a regular there, by the way) don't rush to conclusions.
The victim's family is living through hell. Everyone should remember that. No reason can even come close to trying to justify this act.
Not all the press, just the Herald

I don't remember seeing any irresponsible coverage in the Globe or Phoenix or Weekly Dig.
The Herald has long been known
