A billboard company that has a deal with the Sons of Divine Providence to replace its current old-fashioned billboards outside the Madonna Queen of the Universe Shrine on Rte. 1A in East Boston with a single, larger electronic signboard yesterday sued the Zoning Board of Appeals, which twice rejected the proposal earlier this year. The Zoning Board of Appeal today rejected a proposal to replace two old-school billboards that advertise the Madonna Queen of the Universe Shrine on McClellan Highway in East Boston with a state-of-the-art electronic billboard that would beam electronic ads at passing motorists. Read more.

For the second time in a year, the Zoning Board of Appeal has rejected a proposal by a billboard company and the Polish American Citizens Club to erect a digital billboard on club property to beam ads at Expressway drivers - and to help financially support the non-profit club. Read more.

The Zoning Board of Appeal today agreed to reconsider its decision in May to reject a plan by the Polish-American Club on Boston Street to erect a new billboard on a pole next to I-93, not because the club has since sued the board but because its zoning lawyer has since filed detailed renderings of what the billboard would look like, information the board didn't have in May. The Polish-American Club on Boston Street and a Norwell billboard company yesterday sued the Zoning Board of Appeal over its rejection of a plan to build an electronic billboard aimed at motorists on the neighboring Southeast Expressway. Read more.

ClearChannel hurls a billboard off the roof

The folks at Gamma Ray Digital on Braintree Street in Allston are getting pretty annoyed at how workers for billboard giant Clear Channel now remove billboard wraps there and hurl them off the roof of a five-story building onto the in-use parking lot below, especially since the building has a working freight elevator.

The Zoning Board of Appeal today rejected a proposal to couple the erection of a digital billboard in the backyard of the Polish-American Citizens Club on Boston Street, overlooking the Expressway, with the elimination of three existing billboards elsewhere in Dorchester. Read more.
