The citadel of freedom known as Yankee Stadium has a rule requiring fans to stand at their seats during "God Save America." Gothamist reports on a Sox fan who says he really had to go during Tuesday's rendition, but that he never made it to the men's room because he was grabbed by security guards who didn't like his retort when they told him to get back to his seat, marched down to the ground level and pushed out of the stadium instead:

"When we reached the exit of the stadium, they confiscated my ticket and the first officer shoved me through the turnstiles, saying 'Get the hell out of my country if you don't like it.' "

Booing the Great State of Massachusetts

Well! Seems there were a few boos tonight when, before casting its votes in Denver, the leader of the Massachusetts delegation included the Red Sox and Celtics in the traditional list of things that make this Great State such a Great State. That's just fine with Beth:

... I don't know what I love more - that it's so perfectly, exquisitely Massholish or that the delegation from the great state of Mass actually incited boos during the formal nomination process for President of the United States.

A Red Sox fan in Jose's program revealed to Jose yesterday that her English-American Catholic brother named his son Kapler, in honor of Gabe Kapler, "The World's Most Perfectly Sculpted Jew."

At first Jose was going to write about how this had to have been the first goyish child on earth named after Gabe Kapler. But then Jose thought about it and realized, that this is probably the first child anywhere named after Kapler. The only people who would likely want to name their kid after him would be Jews, but Jews famously, do not name their children after living people. To do so, is extremely bad luck for the person from whom the name is taken. Which raises an important question: Why does Jose's classmate's brother want Gabe Kapler to die? ...

Do you think the guy who rolled down the tarp covering those outfield seats after grabbing Youkilis's home run will get billed by the Sox for all the holes he put in the tarp? And wouldn't it have been something if he kept rolling and wound up on the warning track - still holding the ball?

Exactly how many pieces of Bazooka does Francona have in his mouth right now? And how is there any room left for all that saliva he keeps spitting out?
