WCVB reports the state will be closing the Hynes, Gillette, Natick Mall and Danvers vaccination sites by the end of the month as it moves to distributing Covid-19 vaccine doses to mobile units and doctors' offices in an attempt to reach people who might not want to go to a giant site.

Organizers of one of the world's largest conferences on AIDS have announced this morning they're canceling the in-person conference that had been scheduled to start Sunday at the Hynes and will instead attempt to run all of its discussions online because of growing concerns over Covid-19. Organizers of the Conference on Retroviruses and Opportunistic Infections said tonight their conference will open Sunday as scheduled - but with added precautions to protect some 4,000 attendees from any possible Covid-19 infection, and with a request that people from countries that have had outbreaks or who are immunocompromised or "fit into other high risk categories for serious disease if they acquire an infectious respiratory illness" stay home. Yeah, what? Boston Police report two Pokemon masters from Iowa seemed to be threatening to shoot up the Pokemon World Championships at the Hynes Convention Center but were foiled in part because Hynes security officers spotted the threat online. Read more.

The kidlet and I made our annual trek to the Pru to check out the costumes for Anime Boston. As always, it didn't disappoint, except for maybe the fact there were no Tron characters.

Thousands of costumed con goers flitted through both the Hynes and the Pru, where they mixed with bemused tourists and a few little kids, who found themselves watching an impromptu parade.

The Globe reports MassDOT and State Police will be experimenting with lane closures in the Pru tunnel this weekend as they get ready for a series of lane closures later this month and next month so workers can remove the tunnel's ceiling.

Boston Police report close to 6,000 brides-to-be and vendors have signed up for an alleged Spring Home and Bridal Show at the Hynes Convention Center this weekend that will not, in fact, go on.
