Bashed in the head with beer bottles outside a Southie bar

Boston Police report a group of five or six alleged thugs standing outside Murphy's Law, E. 1st and L streets, beat at least two people in the head with beer bottles, sending them to Mass. General with multiple injuries shortly after 2 a.m. on Wednesday. They assailants were described as white, between 18 and 20.

Also click on the link to read about a man stabbed repeatedly in the back at 109 Mercer St., also in South Boston, around 11:47 p.m. the same day. Police say they are looking for two black men in their early to mid-20s, one with medium-colored skin and braided hair, the other were dark skin and an afro.

MBTA guys warn photographer to stop taking photos on a public street

Mike reports on a little run-in with a couple of guys in an MBTA SUV outside a South Boston bus depot:

Recently I was in South Boston to take pictures of the Macallen condo building. Directly across the street is (what I think is) an MBTA bus depot, and I took a few photos in that direction to capture a rainbow that appeared after the rain. As I was leaving, an MBTA SUV pulled up with two people inside and asked me what newspaper I work for. I said the photos are for a photography class I'm taking. They responded quickly something about warning me that I wasn't allowed to take photos on or of MBTA property and drove off. ...

I'd point to the MBTA's own photo policy, but the MBTA Police Web site is now the Kenmore busway of Web sites: Yes, it's under construction (because apparently whoever's re-doing the site has never heard of using an internal test server while keeping the existing live site up instead of just displaying a large graphic of a guy shoveling manure). So here is a copy of a draft of the policy, which I recall was basically the same.

Boston Police report a rooftop arrest of a South Boston teen for painting large balloons without permission on the side of 285 Summer St. shortly after 3 a.m. today:

According to the police dispatcher, the suspect was spray-painting a wall on the 9th floor in the rear of 285 Summer Street. On arrival, officers observed the suspect standing on a fire escape. Upon seeing the officers, the suspect climbed up on the roof of the building. Upon reaching the roof of the building, officers located the suspect. Officers observed that the suspect was covered in paint.

Channel 4 reports a man on a party cruise on the Provincetown II was gunned down in the Anthony's Pier 4 parking lot around midnight. Despite the presence of several state troopers, there for crowd control, the gunman managed to disappear.

Two take-out holdups in Southie this week

Boston Police report two take-out deliverers have been held up in the past couple of days:

Around 11:10 p.m. on Tuesday, a deliveryman for South Boston Chinese was approached by two masked black men at 40 Dalessio Ct. When he heard a clicking sound from one, he left the food and fled.

A deliverywoman for Alex's Pizza was held up by two masked gunmen around 10:44 p.m. on Wednesday at 31 Logan Way. They made good on their promise to not hurt her if she handed over her money ($35) and her cell phone.

They were fighting like men until the other guy showed up with a crowbar; Suspect tries to evade SWAT team in laundry hamper

Boston Police report a disagreement between a couple of construction guys turned into a potentially nasty brawl that had to be broken up by co-workers.

Police say a welder at a construction site at 229 A St. in South Boston told another worker to stop walking near him because it was dangerous shortly after 1 p.m. yesterday. Police say the worker disregarded the instructions, one thing led to another and when the worker picked up a hammer and made threatening motions, the welder "commanded" him to put it down and fight like a man. Which he did. Then:

While fighting the suspect observed suspect #2 out of the corner of his eye grab a crow bar and lunge at him to strike him with it. The victim reported that he attempted to avoid being hit but was nevertheless hit in the rib cage with the crow bar.

Edison Gonzalez, 29, of Manchester, NH, and Serafin Rosario, 46, of Lawrence were both charged with assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.

Also click on the link to read about an incident shortly before 4 p.m. at the Maxim Pharmacy, 1365 Dorchester Ave., that began as an armed robbery and ended in a laundry hamper, when a police SWAT team busted into an apartment at 11 Saxton St. and found the suspect in a "closet hiding in a plastic container covered with clothes."

Gerald T. Comerford, 20, of Whitman, now faces a pile of charges. In May, he was arrested in Hanson on charges of larceny at a Cumberland Farms and marijuana possession.

We're talking, of course, about the Southie Turkey, which, in just a couple of months, has become the local avian Britney Spears: Nobody cares anymore and, frankly, some people just wish she would go away already. Jason chronicles her sad decline; all that's left is the inevitable trip to rehab.

"Oh look, there's the Southie turkey again."

Yawn.
