Brookline Police report arresting a West Roxbury man they say they caught rummaging around the Independence Village expansion project just past the town line on Asheville Road early this morning - and that a Brookline officer and a Boston search dog suffered minor injuries in the pursuit. Wicked Local Brookline brings us up to date on the war between Brookline and the owners of Hancock Village, who want to add 184 apartments to the Brookline side of the complex, including some in a five-story building that selectmen say is completely out of character in a part of town where single-family homes and two-story townhouses are the norm.

No more housing, Brookline says in suit against both the developer and the state agency that approved it, Wicked Local reports.

The apartment complex is split between South Brookline and West Roxbury; all of the new units would be on the Brookline side.

Wicked Local Brookline reports the owners of the sprawling Hancock Village project, which straddles the Boston/Brookline line, have begun looking at ways to expand:
