Remains of a light pole with modified NOT ART stencil

A concerned citizen filed a 311 complaint about the graffiti on the remains of a light pole at Rutherford Avenue and Essex Street in Charlestown, thoughtfully circling the offending graffiti to make it easier to find, although without any indication whether the objection is to the original "NOT ART" stencil, the additions that make it somehow even worse, if possibly funnier, or both.

Sarah Wroblewski reports Boston got nearly two inches of rain out of tonight's storm, more than local storm drains and roads could handle in a short amount of time. Some trees came down after being hit by lightning. Read more.

The Zoning Board of Appeal yesterday approved plans by Related Beal to replace a self-storage building at 420 Rutherford Ave. with a three-story building aimed at life-sciences startups - although in a pinch, a robotics developer could also rent space there. Read more.

NBC Boston reports a State Police trooper suffered non-life-threatening injuries in a crash around 3:30 a.m. on an access road to Boston Sand & Gravel off Rutherford Avenue.

Rick Macomber reports the cruiser somehow got jammed between two of the freight cars that haul sand and stone from New Hampshire to Charlestown.

June Bug and Radiomancy Museum report a plummeting electrical wire set a dumpster in the Hood parking lot in Sullivan Square on fire around 2 p.m.:

Police telling folks to stay inside the buildings due to arching. Smells worse than usual down here!

Because it's sounding like downtown and surrounding areas are at gridlock right now - and it can't possibly be because of people heading to the Beanpot, can it?
