Hyde Park
How many fried-chicken joints named after other cities does one neighborhood need?

If the neighborhood is Hyde Park, the answer is two. Both are on River Street; the New York one is in Cleary Square; the New Orleans version just outside Logan Square.

Man shot, man exposed, man upset, man in fight
Boston Police report a man in a van was shot shortly after 8 p.m. yesterday at Columbia Road and Devon Street in Dorchester by a shooter with bad aim who was attempting to gun down somebody else. The man is expected to survive.
Around 6:45 p.m., yesterday, a Lynn man crossing River Street in Hyde Park wound up arrested after, police say, he got into an altercation with a motorist who thought he was taking too long to get across the street and began pounding on the guy's hood.
About 10 minutes later, police arrested a totally naked Malden man who was reportedly lying on his back in the Boston Common by Boylston Street and shaking his stuff at passersby.
Also yesterday evening, police arrested three people in a three-way shoving match on the Greenway at Edinboro and Kingston streets. Police say the three had pooled their resources to buy a bottle of vodka but that the male member of the group then decided to keep the whole thing for himself.

Alleged Brockton thug charged with quadruple shooting in Hyde Park
Boston Police report arresting a Brockton man in connection with the convenience-store quadruple shooting early on July 5.
Caiheem C. Kindell, 18, was arrested on charges of unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition, and four counts of assault and battery by means of a dangerous weapon.
Police say the four men were outside the Hyde Park Avenue Tedeschi (formerly Store 24) around 2 a.m. when they were attacked. They managed to flee by car; all were taken to local hospitals.
Is this the same guy? In 2001, the Quincy Patriot-Ledger wrote about then 11-year-old Caiheem Kindell's participation in the Crossroads for Kids summer camp in Duxbury, which tries to provide "life-changing experiences and opportunities for youth living in at-risk environments that can include abuse, violence, neglect, poverty and homelessness:"
... Caiheem Kindell, an 11-year old from Dorchester, has been attending Crossroads for Kids for the past four years. The addition of a high-speed Internet connection, digital cameras and HTML instruction gave him a new experience this year.
For this final project, Kindall developed a web page with pictures of his friends from camp and a link that plays their favorite songs. Yesterday, he clicked through several windows on a computer screen to expose the coding behind his web creation. ...

Hyde Park teen arrested for shot that injured Mission Hill boy
Boston Police report charging Richard Penha, 18, of Hyde Park, with shooting the bullet that went through a 7-year-old boy playing outside on Mission Hill last week.
Penha's cousin, Kenny Francois, 18, also of Hyde Park, was arrested last week.
Police charge that after getting shot by a guy on a bicycle on Tremont Street, Penha, instead of seeking medical attention, went after the guy, with Francois in the passenger seat. Police say the two found the bicycling thug on Sewall Street and opened fire, starting a gunfight in which a stray bullet hit the boy. Police said today the boy remains in Boston Medical Center, in stable condition. The bike thug remains at large. After the shootout, police say, Penha did seek medical attention.
Ed. puzzled note: What's up with Hyde Park? Couple these two arrests with the teen murdered on July Fourth, the four guys shot at a Tedeschi, the River Street Mini-Mart holdup and the gun-shooting Fairmount Hill low-riders and all of a sudden you could start to think it's a violent neighborhood.
