Lawsuit of the week: Susan Hassett vs. Elisabeth Hasselbeck
By adamg on Tue, 12/01/2009 - 9:12am
Hassett, who lives in Falmouth, claims Hasselbeck's The G-Free Diet: A Gluten-Free Survival Guide is a rip-off of a self-published book she wrote about celiac disease - she says she sent a copy of her book to Hasselbeck and was amazed 13 months later to see Hasselbeck pitching her own book on national TV. So she's suing, in US District Court in Boston.
It gets even better, though. This is Hassett's second lawsuit. The first was tossed when her own lawyer declined to go forward with it. So yesterday she re-filed the suit all on her own.

Old news: this case was already tossed out of Federal court
Not enough overlap, apparently.

That actually makes it a better story
Her original lawsuit was thrown out. She re-filed it pro se yesterday.
Overlap???
Hassett had counsel for the case that was dismissed on November 19 and as indicated in the Huff Post article, the reason for the dismissal was that her attorney refused to pursue it. It looks like she re-filed on November 30, pro se.
