When news breaks, we'll fix it

New commenting turned off as we begin the Great UHub Migration. Back later today.

I'll be out of radio contact for a bit (have to drive down to good ol' PWD), so I'm leaving this open thread for breaking news because over the past few months, roughly every other time I'm sans laptop and WiFi, some big story breaks.

Portuguese Water Dog?

Or perhaps, apropos certain favorite commenters, Pure Word Deafness?

I meant PVD, as in T.F. Green, honest!

The president and CEO of Tedeschi's Food Stores, Inc., today posted a $25,000 reward "for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for the shooting death of 39-year-old Surendra Dangol."

Video and still images of the gunman and suspect vehicle -- believed to be a white Plymouth Acclaim manufactured between 1986 and 1992 -- are posted at www.BPDNews.com. Tipsters acting on the reward should call Boston Police homicide detectives at 617-343-4470; those who wish to remain anonymous may call the CrimeStoppers tip line at 1-800-494-TIPS.

PWD- print working directory ??

different city though ....

Victim's relatives said they had learned the clerk's 9-year-old daughter in Nepal would not be allowed in the country for the funeral because US Embassy officials had denied her a visa. Surendra Dangol's wife...was told that she could only have two visas to enter the country because US officials were concerned that if they provided them more than that, the family would try to stay in the country.

Boston.com reports

Yeah, because letting in the family of a hard-working legal immigrant who was trying to raise the money to bring them over anyways would be the worst fucking thing in the world. We have a southern border like a sieve but god forbid we let a 9-year-old into the country to mourn her dead father...especially on the POSSIBILITY that they'd stay illegally.

What the hell is wrong with our country?
