The single issue with Papelbon
The single issue with Papelbon is his absolute lack of pitch selection. Only THREE days ago, Amalie Benjamin ( <3 ) was touting Papelbon's ability to throw three different pitches. Where the hell was THAT Papelbon?? That's the Papelbon that helped shut the door over and over again in 2006 and 2007 for us.
Last year, he threw his fastball over 81% of his pitches! He was entirely predictable. Wait for a fastball...boom, homerun. It was fast pitch batting practice. He is supposed to be getting back to his splitter and adding a slider.
Tonight's 9th against the Yankees? 19 goddamned fastballs. Pathetic.
