That said, I think this is an overreach by the city government.n Ban it in kids' playgrounds, sure, but not in an entire big park like Danehy.

A couple other problems come with ciggies. Massholes love to flick 'em. This means litter and brush fires. Large parks like Danehy have some brushfire fuel around - just add masshole.

In my opinion they should focus on banning smoking where it affects nonsmokers.
Parks are big enough so that it's easy to avoid smoke. But it's hard to walk down the sidewalk past certain bars without having to smell it, so I'd prefer it if they banned smoking there (not that there's a practical legal way to do so).
