Kenneth Howe, passenger at a sobriety checkpoint (I can't believe I'm actually using the word "checkpoint" in the state where our war of independence started), died after being beaten and restrained by more than a dozen officers. The autopsy has been released, stating the cause of death was "blunt impact of the head and torso with compression of the chest." What earned Howe being a homicide victim? "Furtive gestures" (it's uncertain whether police saw the joint or noticed him buckle his seatbelt- that information seems to have come directly from the driver after the fact.)
Masslive shows a photo of the arrest in progress; The Eagle Tribune also covered the story, and has news of the death certificate, which states "how injury occurred: struggled with police."
The coroner's statements bend over backwards to tow the Thin Blue Line, repeatedly stating they're not asserting Howe was "murdered." They're absolutely right: it's an execution.
The driver claims Howe was pulled out of the truck, and investigators (from the same force that beat him to death) claim he "lept" out of the truck, struck an officer "in the process", and ran away. Fiction or fact? We've heard that police like to engage in "creative writing" on police reports and "testilie" in court, so we can't rely on their statements.
