Possible buyers look at the Hole

Yet another Globe article about this mess that fails to mention the Globe's own original reporting about the hand the Boston Redevelopment Authority and Mayor Menino had in this debacle. The BRA (i.e., the mayor) slid this project through deliberately without the proper financial due-diligence paperwork. The City of Boston specifically and intentionally enabled a deal that turned out to be a fraud, which is what happens when you break key rules. Now the Globe has decided that it's a hero-vs.-villain story, and now quotes the mayor as grumbly and outraged. It's actually a villain-vs.-villain story, and the mayor's outrage is over being outfoxed by a partner in crime. Whoever buys this site will be doing it under the scheming and approval of the BRA and Menino. So watch them like a hawk. Not that there's anything we can do about it in an undemocratic city, but at least you won't be surprised.

It's called "Menino's Hole". Every little kid knows that.
