So many Peeps, so little time

It's the day before Valentine's Day, so of course Stop & Shop in Dedham already has all its Easter and Passover stuff out.

Ahhh... Peeps! The first sign
Ahhh... Peeps! The first sign of Spring.
Ahhh, yes!
It's a little bit early, don't ya think?
S&S Waltham Does The Same Thing
They had valentines stuff displayed on Christmas eve. Frankly, it's jarring to be walking through the supermarket picking up a few items for Christmas dinner and come across this:

Why do they do it? It seems to have been a perennial complaint ever since I can remember. Don't they understand how rotten it is and how much it turns off their customers?
Passover prelims
I was at S&S in Revere (at Wonderland) this past week and saw the first matzah (matzo if you prefer) of the season in an endcap display. My first thought was, "Seriously?" Now that I look it up, though, I see Passover begins the night of March 29th (and Easter is April 4th), so that does only give us SIX WEEKS! Holy crap, why isn't the gefilte fish on sale, too???!!!
They haven't caught enough gefiltes yet
They had jars of the stuff at the Dedham S&S (grr, now I want to drive to Inman Square for breakfast!). I threatened the kidlet with one - said I might just have to buy it and bring it home. She must get her loathing of the stuff from her mother :-).
Those sneaky buggers are hard to catch
Mmmm, S & S Deli. Heaven. Haven't been there in years, but isn't Inman still Cambridge, not Somerville? Or are you referring to someplace else? Oh, and I do enjoy a good jar of gefilte fish (as long as I have really hot horseradish), but not at $6.99 a pop. I love to buy it when all the "Jewish foods" go on sale at Rosh Hashana or Tisha B'Av. Ha.
I blame lack of coffee
Yes, of course, Cambridge. Fixed in my comment, and will now fire up my yacht, the S.S. Mein Kind, to travel there.
I hear you on the price. Unfortunately, succeeding generations in my family have wussed out, so, unlike my grandmother, I am not going to buy a live carp and keep it in the bathtub until I'm ready to turn it into gefilte fish, if I even knew where to get live carp around here (besides the Charles, that is).
Live carp
I'd bet you can buy live carp at any of the larger Asian markets around town, such as Formerly Super 88 (now Hong Kong Supermarket) in Allston.
