Was that our Matsuzaka on the mound?

Seven innings and no walks? We approve. Also, plenty of rest seems to help Jason Varitek.

Jason Varitek?
I thought that was Adam Vinatieri behind the plate last nite. Must be mixing up my sports ions.
It was wonderfully surprising
I was at the game last night with some friends, and on the first inning, one friend said "OK, I'm betting at least 30 pitches this inning", and he ended up throwing 14. And he kept it up. Lots of first pitch strikes. One hit thru 5 innings. Good stuff. Meanwhile, everybody was checking the Celts score and hit the bars after the game to catch the end of the Celts game. Not a bad night for the home teams, just need the Bruins to close it out tonight.
Have we forgotten about 2008?
Sure, this is not the Matsuzaka we've become accustomed to from last season, but he pitched games like last night's quite often in 2008, and was an 18 game winner as a result.
