I assume everyone blocked pop-ups in their browsers, and block 3rd party cookies, and so on... right? So are they canceling the pop-unders because they're already all blocked, anyway?
The Globe's pop-unders defeated the popup blockers that came standard with most web browsers, because they only appeared once you clicked on the page (for example, to see the next page of the article).
I'm sure there was a way for power users to defeat them, but most people wouldn't be able to figure it out.
