The Feast reports a beret-clad guy upset with the quality of the print of "The Sound of Music" the Brattle Theatre was showing last night took his anger out on a theater cash register and destroyed it:
The enraged film snob decided to show his displeasure by vandalizing the lobby and terrorizing the staff.
Or as the Brattle itself tweeted:
Beret-man cuffed by fuzz. He (wildly) overreacted abt print quality. We'll get a new register. No one hurt. Head mgr heroic.

Was this crime?
Or performance art?
Neither
The guy was just a film nazi.
One man flashmob?
One man flashmob?
If bad print quality sets him off at the Brattle
why doesn't he go to the Boston Common theater and pull that crap. Worst place to see a movie in the city! Oh, wait, because unlike genteel Harvard Square, the staff at the Common would have used his head to clean out the toilets before they called the cops.
Then again "Avatar" made me want to trash the theater I saw it in..
This guy gets around
I went to the Coolidge to see Made in Dagenham in its super-small theater and a gentleman in a beret walked in, saw the place was so crowded that he'd have to sit up front, loudly pronounced "No, I'm not going to do this, I just can't" and stormed out. Don't know if it's the same guy, but I could totally see him getting jacked up over a grainy Sound of Music print. And they say opening night crowds at the Common and Regal Fenway are dangerous. They at least have the courtesy to commit their violence BEFORE the latest Iron Man movie begins.
he's right, you shouldn't pay
he's right, you shouldn't pay full price to sit in that closet!
Goat herd
I think this billy escaped the lonely goat herd of his mind!
Climb every mountain, break every thing!
The hills are alive with the sound of menace!

I am a regular at the Brattle. Usually you get obnoxious behavior along the lines selfishness (blocking one view) or chattering (as the 2 teenagers behind me at the Marx Brothers triple feature) or annoying habits such as mumbling to yourself or bumping into people as you walk back and forth to the restroom (at the Marx Brothers) I watch Cluny Brown the night before and the audience could not have been nicer. Glad I missed out on this guy getting in touch with his inner Hulk.
Arrrggghhh!
I had planned to attend the showing of the film The Sound of Music at the Brattle Theatre a week ago last Wednesday, but I was down with a nasty case of bronchitis and couldn't go. I'm glad of it, too, since it sounds like the guy who went on a rampage about the print of TSOM was a complete asshole who spoiled the evening completely.
