Todd English hasn't finished rebuilding Olives but might be opening Belgian beer bar at Faneuil Hall

The Herald considers the rumors the celebrichef is about to turn his debt-laden Kingfish Hall into a Belgian sudser, even as he faces a mid-September deadline from the Boston Licensing Board to re-open Olives in Charlestown or risk having its liquor license lifted.

English doesn't know a Grand Cru from a Grand Am
Unless he makes a point of hiring someone from the Publick House or Benneluxe in Philly, he's wasting his time.
I'd miss Kingfish Hall, which
I'd miss Kingfish Hall, which is quite excellent, but then again, one of the best leisure experiences I've ever had was at a Trapist bar in Amsterdam. If he can create a place like that, I'll be in line for the first pour.
I love a good dubbel, but
I love a good dubbel, but there are already many amazing establishments devoted to them in this town (Publick House, Deep Ellum, Lord Hobo, the new Meadhall, to name a few...). This is just English jumping on the bandwagon.
Todd English already sold his beer-lover's soul
As the Beer Advocate helpfully pointed out, The Todd did a lucrative deal shilling for that awful Michelob crap a few years ago: http://beeradvocate.com/articles/643 That gutted his beer-geek cred in my eyes. Who knows what kind of macro swill he'll be pimping in Faneuil Hall? You don't go to Dorian Gray for skin-care advice.
Following up on that
If you want one of the better Belgian beer bars outside of...well, Belgium, go to the Publick House in Brookline (Washington Sq). They probably have the most Belgians on draught (enter bar, turn left and enter "The Monk's Cell") and even more in bottles too.

Thanks!
I will definitely check this out. I wish it had been there when I lived in Washington Square, now it's a bit off my normal path.
Their other place
The same ownership group also owns the American Craft restaurant which is on the same side of Beacon St about 2 blocks towards Cleveland Circle (where VinnyT's used to be). That restaurant of theirs focuses on American-brewed craft beers and bourbons as well as a slightly less pub-like menu than Publick House.
I like both places for what they have to offer.
Quite a bit farther away, but
if you're a baseball fan who likes Belgian beer, I highly recommend going to the Ommegang Brewery outside of Cooperstown, NY.
A beautiful location & facility, good tour, and just a delicious array of offerings.
Also...
they're the only Belgian-owned brewery in America.
If you can get one of the brewmasters to point you in the right direction, head to Howe Caverns and check out some of the caves that they uses as cellars.
unless of course you count
unless of course you count budweiser........
Olives
Funny thing...soon after the article appeared on UHub regarding the push for Olives to be finished after his hearing in late June, someone took down all the brown paper from the windows and left the light on, giving an appearance of progress. One week later, though, the lights were out and the paper was back up. The number of Freedom Trailers that walk by this place in the summer is staggering and I wish someone would open something in City Square to bring the attention to it that it deserves.
