Man beaten outside Rte. 1 liquor store

Revere, Saugus and State Police are looking for whoever beat a man half to death outside Kappy's Liquors and Bill and Bob's Roast Beef around 5 p.m. yesterday.

The victim was taken to Mass. General with life-threatening injuries. State Police said this morning he is expected to survive.

Police are looking for a black man with dreadlocks, possibly in a gray hoodie. A search that included police dogs and a State Police helicopter in the woods along the Revere/Saugus border was called off around 11 p.m.
